What do you need in January?

With the weather being just as grey and cold as you would expect at this time of the year, I entertained myself by taking these colourful pictures as some sort of therapy. Maybe actually eating all the candy and painting some pictures would be even more beneficial?

It is probably not meant to be face, and even less an entertainment to passers-by, but does it not look like an astonished face? I wonder what it's looking at ...

Traces of spring are still rare at the moment (looking for those in January was very optimistic, I agree), but there were some green bits and pieces, livening up the overall brown impression of the forest:

An Escape

In the middle of January, what would be better than a little escape from winter? Desert or oasis, which do you prefer?


Was könnte Mitte Januar besser sein als eine kleine Flucht aus dem Winter? Die Frage ist nur noch: Wüste oder Oase?

Goodbye Istanbul!

As I'm leaving Istanbul on Thursday, I decided by last post from this wonderful city should be about the thing I'll miss the most, and that's my view on the foggy, shimmery Bosporus  every morning:
